using an old strawberry pot

I just love the concept of an upcoming party at Debbiedoos Blogging.  She is looking for posts where bloggers have recreated magazine photos.  I am hoping to find a decorating project to undertake for this, but while searching recent issues of Southern Living, I came across this idea (October 2011).  Well, I had an old strawberry pot in the garage.  I have found the challenge of keeping birds and small animals away from strawberries long enough for them to ripen to be too much for me.
The weather is BEAUTIFUL right now.  My patio is pretty depressing with half-dead plants and empty pots.  This struck me as just what I needed to do to brighten up the New Year.

My flowers look a little less impressive than theirs.  I may have to drown them in Miracle Grow...
I also chose purple and gold violas in honor of LSU playing in the National Championship next week.  (My husband is a big LSU fan).

Happy New Year!

Update January 22, 2012

Well... my choice of colors didn't seem to help L.S.U. in the National Championship....
but my flowers are really blooming!
