First Monday in Canton
I was in Dallas this weekend and planned a few hours for myself in nearby Canton. Once a month they hold an amazing trade mart there called First Monday. I had a wonderful time and brought home many small treasures. I will divide my adventure into a series of blog posts over the month of February.
One big highlight was discovering A Feathered Nest. I quickly figured out that this was the store owned by Karla Richey of Lady Butterbug. Someone else was watching the shop when I visited. Her enthusiasm about Annie Sloan paint was very contagious. I couldn't decide which Annie Sloan decorating book to purchase, so of course I bought them both. One details many painting techniques, the other is more about French decorating.
I am sorry that I didn't note the salesperson's name. She showed me a Formica table that she had just painted with the Annie Sloan paint and then waxed. She made me a believer! I can't wait to tackle some pieces of furniture around my house that have "good bones" but terrible finishes.
Here are some pictures of the pretty shop.
I just love the idea of making a fitted tablecloth with a ruffle!
Many more posts about Canton to follow!
