Here are two quick pictures I had taken of the "before" color:
Yes...the red paint was done in an expensive special finish...but I just couldn't see it working with our style.
Sneaky girl that I am... I got a reputable painter to come paint the room while my husband was at work....
My husband just sent me the "after" pictures that he took with his Ipad this morning. (He is camping out there for a couple of weeks until we complete the sale of our house.)
Sorry about the sun...but I was just so glad when he sent these to me! Don't worry.. the furniture is temporary.
Also, I am planning to put some white slip cover chairs in that empty sitting area.
Now I need some help! The previous owners left the windows completely empty. I do need to put some kind of shades up for privacy and light (obviously). As you can see, there really is no room for drapes (and we want to be able to see the backyard during the day...) Although I love shutters, they are completely out of the running since they would block the view. I thought roman shades, but I keep reading that they are not suitable if you are pulling them up and down daily.
I need your ideas. Please share. (You can see the bed we will be bringing HERE)

Love the new paint- I too am a white/ivory/beige/taupe/black sorta gal.
ReplyDeleteI recommend Roman Blinds - I have them all over and ADORE THEM.
Thanks Michele.
ReplyDeleteLove the new paint colors, I love a neutral base and this is perfect. I would love for you to link up to my Inspire Me party that is ongoing.http://www.astrollthrulife.net/2013/08/177th-inspire-me-tuesday.html Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteAhhh, so much better, what a pretty choice! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful room and view! So unique with the fireplace!
ReplyDeleteI have a huge wal of windows in my master that faces the hot afternoon sun, in TX. So I used some very heavy lined "blocking" drapes that are made specifically to insulate and block sound. I got them in white though! So when they are closed the room still feels light and airy! You can see them here

I also love the look of sheers, but sometimes you also need privacy. In my master bath window I layered lace over sheers to get privacy and light...
here is how it looks...

Hope this helps a bit

Thanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteLinsey you have given me some great inspiration. I had never thought about layering with lace. How beautiful! (Luckily the windows get morning sun, but still there are times when I don't want to be wide awake when the sun rises...)
What a beautiful master bedroom - love the fireplace - and the color looks so much better!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd go with Roman Blinds!
Visiting from French Country Cottage and am your newest follower - have to see this room finished now lol
