Fall Porch Pillows

This has to be the easiest craft I have ever done.

Recently, I ordered two zippered burlap pillowcases from Amazon.

They have literally been blank canvasses, waiting to be painted.... until today.

I painted a scarecrow on one,

and a pumpkin on the other.  I added the word "Blessings" to the one with the pumpkin.

They are now sitting happily on our back porch rocking chairs.

I used acrylic paints and a cheap disposable sponge brush for most of the painting.  I did the outlining and details with black and orange paint pens.  The scarecrow's eyes are a pair of black buttons.  If you can paint a circle, you can paint a scarecrow or a pumpkin. The hardest part of this project was waiting for the scarecrow's face to dry so I could add his features.  The only tip I have to offer is to put something like a magazine inside the pillowcase while you are painting to prevent paint from seeping (is that a real word?) through to the back of the pillowcase.  Shhh.. don't tell anyone... I didn't even clean my sponge paint brush between colors.  I just let the old color blend in.

I am adding this post to my Fall Pinterest Link Up.  Please join us there!

Happy fall!
