A few weeks ago, I took a quick break from unpacking boxes and used some things around the house to create a fall mantel. It was one of my first efforts to make this house feel like home. It was also a desperate plea for cooler weather and the other joys that fall brings.
Now I do feel settled. We've had friends and family come. We've enjoyed meals around the table. I won't say that every box is unpacked, but at least the ones that aren't are tucked away out of the living areas.
Fall has arrived. I'm enjoying walking our dog in the crisp air. I can often leave the back door open to enjoy the sunshine (without worrying about the a/c bill..)
I sat back and looked at the mantel this weekend and knew it was time for a calmer look. Here's the result:
Thanks for visiting,
Eilis
