Appreciating Art

What do these three pieces have in common?

If I had to chose a word,
it would be
contentment.

I've chosen each of them carefully for our home.  Finding the right pieces for the right places has been a very big part of making this house our own.

This oil painting of Venice found a perfect spot in our dining room.  Each time I look at it, I am brought back to my visit there many years ago.  I can almost hear the gondoliers singing...

I was delighted to be the winning bidder of this painting of the Virgin of Guadalupe in an auction.  I didn't have a special place chosen for it ahead of time, but once I tried it on the landing of our stairway, there was no need to look further.  This painting is a beautiful way to include our family's faith in the aesthetics of our home.

This little painting of an Italian vineyard found a perfect spot in our bar area near the wine closet.  It looks like it was always meant to hang under the faux exposed brick wall.  It sets the perfect mood for pouring a chilled Chardonnay...
