Five Friday Favorites

My first post-op week is over!  I've been very good about keeping my right foot above my heart to prevent swelling.  I'm now counting down to going back to the doctor in one more week, to exchange the huge splint thing for a normal cast.
I'm full of gratitude for so many things. Here are five of them.
1. Friends.  A sweet friend sent these beautiful flowers.  I have loved all the favorite posts you've shared with me.  I will be sharing highlights this weekend. Everyone has been wonderful!

2.  Being pampered by my family.  I bought this bed tray for myself on Amazon.  It is my table and desk these days.  I've always liked breakfast in bed.  Now I've had lunch and dinner in bed, too.
3.  Binge watching.  I found a newish series on HGTV.  It's called Vintage Flip.

I enjoy watching Jessie and Tina Rodriguez flip houses while trying to save and/or restore their charm.  Their flips are definitely not generic.
4. Our cozy nest.  I got my husband to bring my blue hydrangeas inside where I can enjoy them. They are in front of the fireplace in our master.  I am also so happy that I hung a large piece of art in our room a while back.  It is so calming.

5. This knee scooter.  I couldn't imagine using one, but now I can't imagine getting around with out it.

Fortunately, the physical therapists at the hospital had me try one before I left. It is SO much easier to get around on than crutches or a walker.  It turns out that insurance doesn't pay for these, so I might as well have ordered it from Amazon before I went into the hospital.  The P.T. told me it would cost twice as much if she ordered it for me through a medical supply store.  Anyway, I have it now.  I can get myself to the kitchen table for meals and sit in the family room for some variety. I had to use the walker they sent me home with until the scooter arrived.  That walker was painful on my hands!  I do still need it to get in and out of the shower though, so it can stay.

How do you like my new blog design by Linda, My Fairy Blogmother?  I thought that this would be a good project to work on while laid up.  Linda made it so easy that I should have done it sooner!

  2. I didn't know you were laid up from surgery! I hope you are feeling better soon. I have seen people use those knee scooters before and now I know why. Sounds like it's a nice alternative.

  3. Eilis, I'm so sorry to hear that you are laid up, but it sounds like you are putting your recovery time to good use. Thanks for sharing at Your Inspired Designs and I hope that you are back on both feet soon.

Those knee scooters are GREAT!! I had to use one for about 6 weeks...At church it was good push off at the door and I could coast down the hall, through the fellowship hall and to the choir room!! :^) The kiddos all wanted to ride it .....oops.....
Hope all is going well now and full recovery is getting closer every day!
