Thank goodness for sons. I have two pretty wonderful ones.
One of them took me (and my knee scooter) to the grocery store for fresh flowers the other day.
(I am six weeks down on a ten week "no driving" recovery from ankle surgery.)
My son is great at picking up the groceries I need, but I longed for a flower buying fix. So I rolled around and around the floral department inspecting the choices. This bouquet said, "End of Summer" to me.
Most of it went into the pitcher on the kitchen island.
The rest of it went into bottles on the mantel. I wrote about the
Always stay humble and kind sign in my last post. This is the simple end of summer look I was hoping for.
It's actually been cool enough to enjoy being outside the last few evenings. Time will tell whether that means that fall weather is on the way, or we're just getting a temporary reprieve from the heat.
I hope these last days of August are full of flowers or whatever makes you happy.

Eilis, your kitchen vignette looks beautiful. I'd like to steal that rooster! You sound like me about needing a flower fix. I was just at the market looking through all the flowers. I hope that you have a wonderful evening!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shannon! He was a Canton find and I do like him a lot
DeleteStunning flower vignettes. I am also loving your kitchen, so I am off to find a kitchen tour so I can see more!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Christine! You've made my day.
DeleteWhat a pretty bouquet, Eilis! I love picking up fresh flowers at the market this time of year. Everything in the yard starts to get leggy, during that triple digit heat. You really created such a pretty vignette. Your home looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteShenita, you are so right. Isn't it amazing that some lucky people are still cutting fresh flowers from their gardens right now?
DeleteEilis,
ReplyDeleteI know it feels good for you to get out! Flower shopping is always a good spirit lifter. You picked a lovely bouquet. I'm so glad you got to use some of the blooms for your mantle. It's beautiful!
Thank you, Lisa! I'm loving the updates on your beautiful house.
DeleteSo pretty. What a sweet son. This weather has me in the mood to decorate but I know it is way too early! I'm so glad that you have sweet sons to take you around.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katie! I am so thankful for my whole family, especially now.
DeleteSo pretty!! You have taken this rolling around thing with the best attitude.
ReplyDeleteHow are you feeling now? Have you read the book?
Thanks, Stacey! I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just being able to take off the boot to sleep at night is wonderful. I have read about half of the book so far:)
DeleteSuch a beautiful vignette. Flowers always make me happy and your sweet rooster is the star. The sign is great reminder. I hope you are recovering nicely.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda!
DeleteAw, nice son to take you flower shopping. :-) it's a pretty bouquet too. I'm hoping this cooler weather (so strange for August) means we will have an earlier Fall. Keeping my fingers crossed! Your mantel looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cecilia.
DeleteYour flowers are so pretty! I'm sure they are cheering you up since you've had to spend so much time at home recovering. I'm hoping that Fall is going to be here sooner rather than later too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kelly!
DeleteHi Eilis! Oh my...your poor ankle! This seems to be the "summer for issues" with a lot of peeps! LOL! Your mantel looks fabulous my dear:D Thanks for reaching out;)

DeleteEllis,
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen vignette is just so striking.....I love everything about it, and your mantel
looks pretty too, a great vignette for the end of summer. Hope your ankle heals well and
you are back on your feet again soon. Had a friend who went thru that and she had a great
attitude like you, but it was certainly not the easiest situation to live thru. So may
the Lord bless you with lots more patience and protection, and God Bless your sons for taking good care of their MOM.
Blessings, Nellie
Thank you, Nellie. I will be starting to walk on crutches this week :)
