Pillow from a Placemat

Here's a easy and inexpensive way to add spring inside.

These 15 inch Cynthia Rowley placemats were a recent HomeGoods find.  A set of 4 was $9.99. They are reversible with the same fabric on the back.
Last year, I found these inexpensive pillows at the Target Dollar Spot.  They were fun, but after spending the summer outside, they were ready for a refresh.

I just opened one of the side seams of the placemat, put in the pillow, and hand stitched it closed.

One down, three more to go...

  1. Oh, Eilis! This is fabulous! I just blew my budget at Home Goods yesterday but that never stopped me before! Off I go for some pretty spring pillows!

  2. WOW. What a great and easy project! Don't have a HomeGoods around me any more (I moved to SW GA 17 years ago and the closest ones are more than 2 hours away - used to have one near me in FL), but I will look at TJ Maxx and other places for similar placemats - I just 2 that are reversible for this project as I only need 2 pillows for my sofa. Nice!!
